When is the next HSK test?

The next sittings on CTI's calendar are 17 October 2026 (Old HSK (2.0), HSK 1-6); 7 November 2026 (Old HSK (2.0), HSK 1-6); 22 November 2026 (HSK 7-9, HSK 7-9); 13 December 2026 (New HSK, HSK 1-6). Test centres also run their own extra sessions, listed on each centre's page.

When does the new HSK start?

The first official sitting of the new HSK is announced for 13 December 2026, for HSK 1 to 6. Every sitting before it in 2026 was the old exam, apart from trial sittings of the new one on 31 January 2026 and 20 September 2026. The last global sitting of the old exam is 7 November 2026.

Is HSK 7-9 on the same dates?

No. HSK 7-9 is a separate test with its own dates, taken internet-based. It is on the calendar above when a sitting is open.

When does HSK registration close?

CTI sets a deadline for each sitting, separately for paper and internet-based tests. For 13 December 2026 they are 16 November 2026 (paper) and 3 December 2026 (internet), at 24:00 Beijing time. Centres often close earlier than CTI, so check yours.

When do HSK results come out?

For the new exam, CTI says results come 15 days after an internet-based test and 30 days after a paper one. Score reports are valid for 2 years from the test date.

How much does the HSK cost?

Each centre sets its own fee in local currency. CTI's rule for the new exam is that a level from HSK 3 up, taken with its speaking test, costs the same as the old HSK and HSKK pairing did, and HSK 1 and 2 are unchanged. The Vietnam and Thailand pages list sourced fees.

Deadlines are CTI’s. Its notice for the first new-exam sitting gives 24:00 Beijing time on the closing day. Centres often close earlier, and many run extra sessions of their own; both show on each centre’s page. CTI had published no 2027 calendar at our last check.

How to register

Pick a sitting and a level. On the new exam, HSK 3 to 6 are registered together with the speaking test of the same level; HSK 1 and 2 have no speaking part. Not sure of your level? Take the placement test.
Pick a centre that offers that sitting in the format you want, paper or internet-based.
Register at chinesetest.cn or with the centre, upload a photo, and pay the fee the centre sets.
On the day, bring the identity document you registered with, and follow your centre’s notice for anything else.
