These terms govern your use of HSKLord. By creating an account, installing the app, or otherwise using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
HSKLord is a spaced-repetition study tool for Mandarin Chinese vocabulary, distributed as a website at hsklord.com and as native iOS and Android applications. The service includes the study interface, the vocabulary library, tooling for stroke order and pronunciation, downloadable PDF packs, and supporting content such as the blog and dictionary.
HSKLord offers a 7-day free trial that does not require a credit card on the web. After the trial, continued access to gated features requires a paid subscription.
Web subscriptions are billed by Stripe. iOS subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store. Android subscriptions are billed by Google through Google Play. The terms of those underlying billing platforms apply alongside these terms for the corresponding payments.
Subscription prices are listed at hsklord.com/pricing and inside the app. Prices are quoted in US dollars unless the platform displays a localised currency. Applicable taxes are calculated and collected by Stripe at checkout where we are registered to do so.
Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access remains active for the remainder of the paid period.
For web subscriptions purchased through Stripe, we offer a full refund within 14 days of the original charge if you have not made meaningful use of the gated features. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
For PDF pack purchases, refunds are issued only if the downloaded files are defective or undelivered. Once the file has been successfully downloaded, the purchase is not eligible for refund.
For iOS and Android subscriptions, refund requests are handled by Apple or Google respectively, under their own policies. We cannot issue refunds for transactions we did not originate.

The HSKLord name, logo, software, designs, original written content, and curated study material are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and applicable IP law. Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own learning.
The CC-CEDICT Chinese-English dictionary is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0; any redistribution of CC-CEDICT-derived content from HSKLord must comply with the underlying licence. HSK word lists are official curricula and not owned by us.
Content you upload or create within the service (notes, study decks, custom tags) remains yours. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display that content solely to operate the service for you.
You can stop using HSKLord at any time and delete your account from the account settings page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, if your continued use poses legal or security risk, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, dispute resolution) survive.
The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will cause you to pass any HSK exam.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, HSKLord and its officers, employees, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HSKLord against any third-party claim arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the service, except to the extent caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be resolved in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there. Where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights, those rights still apply.
We may update these terms when the service or our legal obligations change. The date at the top reflects the latest revision. For material changes we will notify you by email or through an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after the change constitutes acceptance.
