When to use it
Returns in mainland China work differently from the West. On Taobao/JD, the 七天无理由退货 (7-day no-questions-asked return) rule is standard and enforced. In physical stores it's much harder; many small shops simply don't accept returns unless the item is defective (质量问题 zhìliàng wèntí). Always keep your 小票 (xiǎopiào, receipt). 退货 means return for refund; 换货 (huànhuò) means exchange, which is often easier to negotiate.
