How to Say “Have a safe trip” in Chinese

"Have a safe trip" in Chinese is 一路平安 (yí lù píng ān). 一路平安 (literally "peace the whole road") is the safe, universal choice; works for any mode of travel. 一路顺风 ("smooth wind the whole way") sounds friendlier but older Chinese people will tell you never to say it to someone flying; wind against a plane is bad.

When to use it

For flights, stick with 一路平安. Younger people are relaxed about this and use either. At airports you will also hear 旅途愉快 (lǚ tú yú kuài, "enjoy your journey"). Add 祝你 (I wish you) at the front to make any version warmer.
