"I am proud" in Chinese is 我很自豪 (Wǒ hěn zìháo). Chinese has two words for 'proud': 自豪 (zìháo) is the positive one; proud of an achievement, your country, your kid. 骄傲 (jiāo'ào) is trickier because it can mean 'proud' OR 'arrogant' depending on context.

When to use it

Say 我为你骄傲 (I'm proud of you) and it's warm; call someone 骄傲 on its own and it sounds like you're calling them stuck-up. Safe rule: use 自豪 for yourself, 为…骄傲 when directing pride at someone else.
